Anything to see here?

The headline reads "Five NASCAR Drivers Reject White House Invitation." It's obviously a political statement, right?

I don't think so. These drivers are two weeks away from the cutoff to determine which of them get to be in the playoffs, so they kind of have a bit on their minds. And (according to a comment on this post) they all went to the White House photo op in previous years. The timing really doesn't make sense to me... last year's season ended in November, and according to my calendar it's September of the following year. This would be like inviting the Super Bowl champions to meet the president in the middle of the next December.

So, people who hate NASCAR, please don't conclude from this that everyone involved in the sport is an Obama hater with no respect for the office of the presidency. People who hate Obama, do not assume that these five men are right there with you.

And, really... why does the president have to spend his time on this stuff?
